Can I register my family members?
Yes! You can register multiple people at once, but you will need a unique email address for each person in order for them to receive race emails.

If I register for the event but cannot participate on Race Day, can I receive a refund or transfer my registration to another person?
Unfortunately, all registrations are final and registrations cannot be transferred to another participant. Your registration does count as a donation to the preschool, so we thank you for your generosity!

Do I need to register early to be guaranteed my t-shirt size like in past years?
Nope, not this year! T-shirts will be ordered after all registrations are complete, which allows us to get you exactly the size you’d like! Pending safety considerations, local participants may be able to pick up their t-shirt and race goodies in a no contact format. All others will be mailed within 4-6 weeks after the race.

Tot Trot Kid’s Run – I want to run with my kid. Should I register for the Tot Trot too?
The Tot Trot is for children 8 & under. Since this year’s race is virtual, any number of adults can run with their children. However, it’d be great to cheer them on from the side!

Parent participation in the Tot Trot is for safety purposes. Please be mindful of other children to ensure they all have a safe and enjoyable run for kids. Older children are encouraged to run on their own, with parents cheering/watching from the side. Registering for the 5k allows both you and your child to be participants (on foot or in a stroller).

Race Day Information

When do I race?
This year, you may race anytime and anywhere between Friday, October 23 and Sunday, November 1, 2020. Choose the best time of day for you and your family! You may race the 5k at a different time and place than your child does the Tot Trot, so pick what works for you!

Should I wear a costume?
Yes! Costumes are highly encouraged for the 5k Fun Run and Tot Trot. We even plan to have a costume contest, so please upload the photos of your run! Check out our pictures from 2014 & 2015 to see how much fun the runners and our tots had enjoying the race!

I have a small child. Can I race with a stroller?
Yes!!! In the spirit of family involvement, strollers are encouraged! Remember, children under 8 years old can also participate in our kids’ Tot Trot.

What if it rains on the day I plan to race?
This event will happen rain or shine. But feel free to pick a sunny day between October 23 and November 1 if you wish!

How do I choose a route for my 5k?
If you do not already have a race route that you like or use, MapMyFitness is a pretty easy app to find a route in your area. You can create your own route with their mapping tool on your computer or find a route that someone else has created. The race chairs have created some sample routes that you may search for, and we will email registrants some ideas before the race begins.

Please bear in mind that none of the routes are official race routes. As always, please be mindful of safety and social distancing guidelines.

The parents of Mountain View Parent Nursery School organize the annual Down By the Bay 5k & Tot Trot events with the help of sponsors and volunteers from the surrounding community. They work hard to provide you with the best experience!
